Art meets fashion – Daniel Von Weinberger, necklace exhibition
Art meets fashion in Maasmechelen Village. From 25 October until 25 November 2016, guests have the chance to discover 26 unique necklaces, designed by Daniel Von Weinberger. In the windows of 26 boutiques, a little black dress is been decorated with an exclusive piece of art. Enjoy a distinctive shopping experience alongside the ‘art boulevard’ in the Village.
Who is Daniel Von Weinberger?
Daniel Von Weinberger (b. Antwerp, 1950) has a varied and wide education in the art of goldsmithing, fashion, theatrical design and enameling. His intricate, unusual and bespoke designs have been exhibited all over the world to the delight of the world press. His jewelry are extravagant and composed of an assortment materials including plastic toys; beads; glass shards and ribbon. He draws inspiration from the intangible, bringing his ideas to life in his designs.
“Art is when you are touched. Something has to happen. I’m sorry, but when I look at the art world now, I hardly feel anything there. It’s completely commercial and there’s no emotion anymore. What I do is for people to wear and enjoy.”
